One-Handed Piano Lessons

Teaching piano one hand at a time!

Simply put, I teach piano to one-handed students around the world both virtually and in-person.  I was classically trained for many years and then went on to learn and play jazz piano from Alan Swain and Tony Caramia. Both of whom are the inspirations that led me to want to share my knowledge and love of piano with everyone who wants to learn!

I began writing/arranging popular songs for one-handed pianists in 2003. I find it challenging but also very rewarding to find the “just right” combination of notes that give the arrangements the color and fullness of a normal/2 handed arrangement. Over 90% of the one-handed arrangements are written for left hand classical music. There is a large market for my one-handed arrangements of Popular songs. I also enjoy the challenge of customizing the songs for the particular students level of playing.

Over the course of teaching students piano for 30+ years, I have arranged nearly 100 popular songs for students who can only utilize one-hand, such that the songs don’t lose their “full” sound. Listen below to my one-handed arrangement of the famous song, “Over the Rainbow.”

Below is my long-time student, Kay Breslin, who is an excellent one-handed pianist.

Listen to another one of my excellent one-handed students, Jeremy Frost, play the piece titled  “Malgre Tout!”

“It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge”
